ADF Week 8 Update: Back on Track

It’s been a LONG time since I’ve posted anything about this. Or really anything else for that matter! I stopped fasting, and I’ve had a few life changes as well. But here I am! I don’t give up, I just postpone.

I’m the baby. My brain is the guy.

I followed alternate day fasting for the past week and we’re just going to continue like nothing happened. Because nothing really did happen! I went back and looked at how much I weighed the last time I posted. I weighed 215 pounds. At the beginning of this week, I weighed 214 pounds. So, I lost a pound between then and now. But that’s super pitiful if you think about the fact that I lost one singular pound in FIVE months! I guess that’s better than gaining right? So to all of the naysayers who said the weight would come right back, and who may have been following me on my journey, feeling smug…

How did I keep it off? I used a nice combination of eating whatever the hell I wanted, and using some moderation. I ate ice cream if I wanted it, but I didn’t just eat a whole pint every day (because believe me, I wanted to). I’d eat a pint. Sure. But, I made sure I didn’t eat dessert every day. I tried to pick lower-carb options at restaurants. I stayed hydrated. I made my meals at home most of the time.

So I fasted on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Monday.

Tues – Wed – Thurs – Fri – Sat – Sun – Mon

As is tradition, I kept track of what I ate. So here is my handy dandy chart to show you what I did.

The calories I was allotted for this week was 2,456 a day, or 17,190 for the entire week. I ate 7,369 calories the entire week. So, my shortage was 9,821. If a pound is 3,500 calories, I should’ve lost 2.8 pounds. When I weighed myself I was 211! Once again, my wonderful TDEE calculator gave me accurate information.

I know it seems like a lot of work just to lose 3 pounds, but I’m closer to my goal weight than I once was. I’ll remind you, the first week I lost 8 pounds! I was also 234 pounds when I started. If you total up how long I’ve been actually doing this, in 8 weeks I have managed to drop 23 pounds. In some of those weeks, I cheated and didn’t actually follow the plan, yet I still have a running average of 2.8 pounds a week, while still being able to eat ice cream, pizza, and donuts.

I’m still in the game ladies and gents, I just took a little time off to handle some life hurdles. I’m back on it now, and that’s what matters. I hope this is also encouraging to you that if you need to take an extended break, it’s not going to kill you.
